Our homes are located across Birmingham and Redditch and include supported housing, housing with care and support, and general needs accommodation.

Supported and specialist housing
New Outlook provides purpose-built and adapted accommodation designed to support people with visual impairment, sight loss and other specialist needs to live as independently as possible. Our supported housing includes self-contained apartments, with accessible facilities and communal areas. Depending on the scheme and individual circumstances, care and support may also be available.
Our current website describes supported housing in Harborne, Erdington and Northfield.

Albert Weedall Centre – Erdington
The Albert Weedall Centre is a purpose-built supported housing scheme in Erdington for people with visual impairment or sight loss. The scheme comprises 25 self-contained apartments and includes accessible facilities, communal areas, gardens and assistive technology designed to support independent living. Facilities include fitted kitchens, spacious lounges, walk-in wet rooms, an accessible lift, secure door entry, laundry facilities and an emergency call system.

Queen Mother Gardens – Harborne
Queen Mother Gardens is a purpose-built supported housing scheme in Harborne providing accommodation for people with visual impairment or sight loss. The scheme has 25 apartments, together with communal facilities and accessible gardens. The accommodation is designed to support independent living, with care and support available according to individual needs.

Tarragon Gardens – Rubery
Tarragon Gardens – Rubery Tarragon Gardens provides specialist supported accommodation. The scheme comprises four rooms within a shared home, providing accommodation for people with visual impairment and support needs.

Managing and maintaining our homes
We are responsible for managing our housing stock and ensuring that our homes are safe, maintained and managed in accordance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and our policies and procedures.
This includes:
- managing tenancies and occupancy;
- letting homes in accordance with our allocations and lettings arrangements;
- responding to repairs and maintenance;
- planned and cyclical maintenance;
- managing health and safety requirements;
- carrying out relevant property inspections and compliance checks;
- managing communal areas and facilities;
- investing in and improving our homes where appropriate;
- managing empty properties and preparing them for re-letting; and
- working with tenants to identify and address issues affecting their homes.

Property safety and compliance
We recognise our responsibility to provide safe homes and to maintain our properties appropriately.
We manage relevant housing health and safety requirements, including areas such as:
- gas safety;
- electrical safety;
- fire safety;
- water safety;
- asbestos management;
- lift safety, where applicable;
- damp and mould;
- property condition; and
- other relevant building and health and safety requirements.
Information about specific safety requirements and how tenants can report concerns will be provided through the relevant New Outlook pages.
Information about our properties
We will continue to develop the information available through this STAIRs section. Where information is already available elsewhere on the New Outlook website, we will provide a link rather than duplicate the information.
Information may include:
the type and location of our housing;
the number and type of properties we own or manage;
information about property condition and investment;
repairs and maintenance;
health and safety compliance;
planned works and improvements;
energy efficiency and environmental information; and
other information relevant to the management of our social housing.
Our commitment
We are committed to managing our homes responsibly and ensuring that tenants have access to clear information about the homes they live in and how those homes are managed. As part of our STAIRs Publication Scheme, we will continue to review the information we publish and add relevant information where appropriate.
